The BBA Summer Schools “From Target to Market” and “GMP Basic Course Biotechnology & ATMPs” in September 2026

05.06.
2026

The course "From Target to Market – The Biotech & Pharma Business Summer School" from 08 - 11 September 2026 provides a compact overview of the overall industry process of drug development, including its complex regulatory, legal and organizational requirements.
The trainer team consists of nine experts from the pharmaceutical industry, biotech companies, leading Contract Research Organizations (CROs) and patent attorney offices. Aim of the interactive course is to provide a solid understanding of the individual phases of drug development and thus, enable the attendees to orient themselves in potential fields of activity in biotechnology and the pharmaceutical industry.
After course completion attendees will, based on their individual background, be able to identify potential occupational fields in the industry and authorities dealing with drug development and drug approvals. The participation of the course will be certified by the Association for Biology, Biosciences and Biomedicine in Germany, VBIO e.V., and the Berlin BioScience Academy (BBA). Knowing and applying the Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) regulations is one of the key elements in the manufacture of medicinal products for clinical trials and on an industrial level.
This intensive Basic Course Biotechnology and ATMPs from 22 September to 01 October 2026 with Dr. Michael Buchholz, Immutep GmbH, Berlin, concentrates on GMP requirements regarding biopharmaceutical and Advanced Therapy Medicinal Products (ATMP) manufacturing. Most important elements of GMP will be explained in an easy-to-understand way with reference to the relevant GMP regulations and examples of how regulatory requirements are transferred into practice. The interactive course is directed to natural scientists, PhD students and postdocs of natural scientific and medical degree programs, technical assistants and trained laboratory assistants with professional experience who have little or no experience with the current GMP requirements. Laboratory experiences are advisable. Successful participation will be certified by the German Pharmaceutical Industry Association (BPI) and by the BBA.

About the Berlin BioScience Academy
Formerly known as "Gläsernes Labor Akademie (GLA)", the Berlin BioScience Academy (BBA) is part of the Campus Berlin-Buch GmbH. It supports young scientists throughout Germany in their professional orientation and their entry into the pharmaceutical and biotechnology industry. For technical assistants and laboratory technicians the BBA offers hands-on training on current topics in the life sciences. Our focus is on a close connection between science and business. It enables the conception, certification and implementation of a practice-oriented continuing training program with a top-class team of experts from research institutions and industry.
The life science program includes summer schools, laboratory courses, seminars, webinars and congresses. In addition, the BBA invites to the "Talks in the Cube" at the BerlinBioCube. The talks regularly inform about "hot topics" in Biotech & Biomedicine and provide the campus network forum for biotech companies, research institutions, investors and associations.

About Campus Berlin-Buch GmbH
Campus Berlin-Buch GmbH (CBB) is developing the international campus together with the research institutions Max Delbrück Center for Molecular Medicine in the Helmholtz Association (Max Delbrück Center) and the Leibniz-Forschungsinstitut für Molekulare Pharmakologie (FMP) as an innovative and sustainable science and technology location.
As an economically independent, non-profit company with a public mandate, Campus Berlin-Buch GmbH is a neutral and intermediary partner. It serves as the interface to basic research, clinical research, companies, administration, policymakers in government and the general public and is engaged in competence networks as well as support and service networks on a regional and international level.
